Seasonal word searches
One puzzle per season, always in season somewhere. These are the sheets teachers print when the classroom calendar flips and the theme of the month changes with it.
What is in this collection
One word search per season, four in total: spring, summer, fall and winter. Every one is a 12x12 grid with twelve seasonal words, playable in the browser and free to print with its own solution sheet. They are the sheets teachers reach for when the classroom display changes.
Why seasons work so well as a word list
Because the vocabulary is already in the room. A child in October has been talking about pumpkins and leaves all week, so the words on the fall grid are not new information: they are recognition, which is precisely the skill a word search trains. That is also why these puzzles double as gentle reading practice without ever feeling like a spelling test, and why they suit a wider age range than their difficulty tier suggests.
Frequently asked questions
Are the seasonal word searches free to print for my classroom?
Yes. All four seasonal puzzles print free, in any quantity, for classrooms, homeschools, nurseries, libraries and homes, with no account and no attribution required. The only restrictions are that you may not sell the PDFs or upload them to another website, as our licensing policy explains.
What age or reading level are the seasonal puzzles?
Ages 6 to 10, or US grades 1 to 4. Each 12x12 grid holds twelve everyday seasonal words, roughly four to nine letters long. They sit in our easy tier, so most primary readers finish one alone once they have heard the word list, and adults treat them as a two-minute coffee puzzle.
Can we play the seasonal word searches online?
Yes. Every puzzle in this collection is playable in the browser with a mouse or a fingertip, so it works as a whiteboard starter at the top of a lesson. Found words are struck off the list automatically. The free printable PDF is always one click away on the same page.
Is there an answer key for each season?
Yes. Each seasonal word search has its own separate solution PDF, marking all twelve words on the same grid, downloadable from the Solution button. Keeping the answers in a second file is the point: you can print a clean class set and still be the only person holding the key.
Can I make a word search for our own topic of the month?
Yes. Our free word search maker takes your title and 10 to 30 words and builds a puzzle that plays online, prints as a PDF with a solution sheet, and gets its own link. It is the obvious tool when your seasonal topic does not match ours exactly.
