What haunts this grid

Pumpkin, ghost, witch, spider, candy, vampire, zombie, skeleton, costume, haunted, spooky and bat. Three letters of pure trouble: BAT hides inside other words constantly, fluttering up wherever a B, an A and a T happen to line up. When only the bat is left, check the diagonals; that is where it usually roosts.

Party trick

Halloween word searches make a great door activity: print a stack, hand one to each kid as they arrive with a pencil, and the sugar chaos starts five minutes later instead of immediately. The solution sheet turns any argument about whether ZOMBIE is really there into a two second check.
