Sports crossword puzzle
Twelve clues from the world of sport: ball games, water, gloves, a very long race and the people and places around the game.

What does it cover?
Not just the sports themselves. Some answers are games you play, others are the race you train months for, the official you argue with, the thing you score and the arena you score it in. The longest answer is ten letters, and long answers are a gift in a crossword: once two or three crossings are in place there is usually only one word that fits.
Who is it for?
Anyone who watches or plays. The clues describe each sport by its rules and its icons, so you do not need to follow any particular league or season, and the puzzle will read the same in ten years. It sits in the middle of our difficulty range: harder than the animal crossword, friendlier than the science one.
