Space word search

Twelve space words are orbiting this grid, from a quick moon to a full nine letter astronaut. No telescope required, though there is one hidden inside.

Mission manifest

Planet, rocket, galaxy, astronaut, comet, Saturn, meteor, orbit, stars, moon, telescope and alien. MOON is the trap of the board: four letters, two of them the same O, in a grid that is naturally full of them. ASTRONAUT and TELESCOPE are the long anchors; their rare letter pairs (the T-R and the T-E-L openings) give them away fast.

For small astronomers

Space is the theme that turns a word search into twenty follow-up questions, so be ready for what a comet actually is (dusty ice, in short) and whether aliens are real (the grid remains neutral). One nice ritual: each found word earns one space fact from an adult, which converts the puzzle into a stalling device of roughly half an hour.

Print it or play it

Play it on this page or print the free PDF; the solution sheet maps all twelve finds. Board, PDF and solution come from the same generated puzzle, so mission control never disagrees with the crew.
